EARTH DAY!!!!!!

Earth Day is one of my most favorite days to celebrate at school.  It's a time where we come together as a campus and work for the same cause.  Our campus seems to gleam with beauty as we work to pick up the grounds, plant flowers, and fix up our playgrounds.  It's also during a speedy time that can sneak up so fast and be gone before you know it.  I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to share with my fellow teachers a few activities my students have seemed to enjoy!

Whole world writing:
Students can create a writing journal about how they can safe the world.  Have students create an image of the world using blue and green paints, a paper plate, and cut outs of their hands.  Paste to the students journal entry on "How I Can Save The World".

Recycle Sort:
Provide students with different types of plastics, metals, glass, and trash.  Have students sort into different buckets with like categories.

The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss:
One of our most successful lessons is The Lorax.
Read the book to students.  Make anchor charts of what went wrong, what went right.  Create Thneeds poems.   Make real life connections of cause and effect.
